Lieutenant Governor slides away from social media

After being the butt of prime-time joking on Saturday Night Live, Tennessee Lt. Gov. Randy McNally says he’s stepping away from social media.

The satire was based on McNally’s reply to a suggestive photo of a gay man on Instagram. The Republican’s apology statement said his intent was engagement and encouragement.

The timing of the post comes as the legislature has received criticism for a string of bills some have called an attack on the LGBTQ community.
