Report: Bridge collapse during foot pursuit injures Cocke County deputy

Published reports say a Cocke County Sheriff’s Office deputy was injured when a bridge collapsed, sending him down onto the rocks while in a foot pursuit of a wanted suspect.
Information from the Newport Plain Talk and the sheriff’s social media says the officer, whose name has not been released, was chasing Drury Whitlock, 47, near Blue Mill Road in Del Rio when the incident occurred. The deputy was sent to a hospital after he fell an estimated 14 feet and landed on a rock, the report said.
Authorities said Whitlock is currently charged with theft over $1,000 and he is not to be approached if spotted. Whitlock is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 155 pounds with dyed pink hair.
