Drake is a from Newport News Va but raised in Southwest Virginia. He’s an avid reader, gamer,
movie aficionado, music lover, and a self-proclaimed “nerd” who loves comic books, fantasy and
sci-fi, and claims he can give anyone a run for their money in Star Wars trivia.
While in college Drake worked part time at a local AM station and from the moment he first
turned on the mic, he knew he had found his passion. He pursued a career in radio from that
day forward.
He’s also an amateur musician and songwriter, and has been the lead singer for several
independent bands. Ever the “dabbler”, Drake owns his own mobile DJ service as well, has had
some of his writing published, and displays a love for electronics and sound engineering that has
lead to a hobby of building custom Hi-Fi speakers. With his hodge-podge of interests Drake
claims that it is this diversity of experience coupled with his passion for music, tech, and
performing that has led him to success in the radio business.
Drake is simply a man who truly loves his job. With a big grin, he asks “Where else can I get paid
to play music and talk to people?” He is both thankful and proud that he has been given the
opportunity to work for such an incredible radio station as WXBQ, and has been known to call
WXBQ his “forever home”.
