Suspect wanted in attempted armed robbery of Greeneville Dollar General

The Greeneville Police Department issues a statement about a man who allegedly attempted to rob a Dollar General at knifepoint, who remains at large and should be considered armed and dangerous. The robbery attempt took place at 243 W. Summer Street around 11:28 a.m. Saturday. The suspect went behind the counter holding a white handled knife. When the cashier told him she didn’t know how to open the register, the suspect punched her in the mouth, knocking her down. The man left the store on foot. Police said he did not leave with any money. The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. He is reportedly a white male, medium build, medium height, wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie, a white mask, and has medium-length, light brown hair.
