TWRA withdraws hunting/fishing license increase. Boat registration fee will still increase

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency withdrew an increase that would have affected hunting and fishing licenses starting July 1. In a December meeting a hunting and fishing license fee increase was approved for several hunting and fishing licenses. Saturday, the TWRA announced that it had decided to withdraw the license increase after hearing commitments from the Joint Government Operations Committee earlier this week to seek alternative funding for wildlife conservation in the state. Current hunting and fishing license fees will continue to be in effect with no increase. Although, a separate rule to increase the price of boat registrations did pass and will take effect July 1.
