VSP enters investigation and Lee County School District request

An employee of Lee County Public Schools has been suspended amid a Virginia State Police investigation requested by the school district. Police said are in the early stages of an investigation but VSP did not provide any details as to the nature of the investigation. Lee County School Board Chair Robert Hines said that an employee tied to the investigation has been suspended and that no students were involved in the matter that is being investigated. Hines said the school district requested the investigation by first contacting the Lee County Sheriff’s Office with the sheriff’s office then informing the school district that the VSP would have to handle the case. According to Hines, school district leaders were first made aware of allegations involving the suspended employee last week.
