Carter County mayor’s and sheriff’s offices purchase 113 AEDS

The Carter County mayor’s and sheriff’s offices partnered in purchasing 113 automated external defibrillators, or AEDs, that will be placed in every county school and sheriff patrol vehicle. These devices will also be placed at volunteer fire departments and EMS trucks that don’t currently have a lifesaving device. The funds for the new AEDs came through a county reserve account. Carter County Sheriff Mike Fraley said he is very thankful for the AEDs being put in the patrol cars and said the devices in the cars will help officers responding to emergencies that require a quick response. Training has also started for coaches and personnel within the school system, with officials saying that over 200 people are currently being trained. Officials also say that they will eventually work toward training older students on the devices.
