University of Tennessee professor joins growing list of dismissed workers due to insensitive Kirk messages

Governor Bill Lee applauded the actions of University of Tennessee Chancellor Donde Plowman and others for the upcoming dismissal of a faculty member whose comments about endorsing murder with the death of Republican advocate Charlie Kirk on social media did not meet the university’s expectations for civil engagement.
The UT statement said the professor is out of the classroom, on administrative leave and her termination proceedings have begun.
Ballad Health CEO Alan Levine said in a media post that their healthcare workers have the prerogative to exercise their First Amendment right but should not be surprised when their job is terminated when celebrating a person’s murder.
