TDOT and VDOT to suspend lane closures for holidays
The Tennessee Department of Transportation will suspend most lane closures on interstates and state highways during the Christmas/New Year’s travel period, from 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23rd through 12:01 a.m. on Friday, January 2nd. Also, the Virginia Department of Transportation is lifting many lane closures across the state during peak holiday travel periods to help ease congestion and keep traffic moving. VDOT is suspending most highway work zones and temporary lane closures on interstates and other major roads from noon December 24 through noon December 26, and then again from noon December 31 through noon January 2. Some long-term closures may still remain and workers may still be on-site in some construction zones.
