Wise County theatre and tennis legends selected for 2026 VHSL Hall of Fame

The impressive academic and athletic resumes of two Wise County women has earned them a spot in the Virginia High School League Hall of Fame.

The group of the VHSL Class of 2026 includes Theatre & Speech Director Jan Thompson of Central High School. Thompson’s educational career spans 47 years and her assembly of students over those years collected 11 state championships and 22 members of her classes earned All-State Outstanding Actor awards.

The other honoree is three-time Group A singles champion Natasha Belcher-Holt of JJ Kelly High School. Holt’s singles record, a first in VHSL history, has never been matched in any classification and during the 1990s, she led Kelly to four consecutive state championships.
