TBI investigating a Saturday morning officer-involved shooting in Bristol TN
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one man hospitalized early Saturday morning. The TBI says around 1 a.m. Saturday, officers with the Bristol Tennessee Police Department responded to an alarm at the post office on 6th Street and found a man who was reportedly holding an aluminum bat and a tire iron. After attempting to speak to the man to de-escalate the situation, the man allegedly refused to drop the items. Officers deployed their stun gun before the man charged at the officers while swinging the bat. Officers then fired their service weapons and shot the man before deploying their stun guns a second time. The man was reportedly hospitalized, and no officers were hurt in the incident. The TBI is investigating the shooting.
