THP to look for dangerous drivers during Operation Safe Mile

Friday marked day one of Operation Safe Mile— those are patrols being made by troopers in the Fall Branch District of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Drunk or distracted drivers and reckless speeders performing dangerous lane changes or following a fellow motorist too close on Interstates 81 and 26 are the targets of officers working to keep those highways safe following 3,929 reported crashes in Sullivan County last year.

THP plans to alternate counties patrolling interstate miles with the same objectives following their initial work in Sullivan.
