VIDEO: Tennessee State Trooper narrowly escapes serious injury in weather-related crash
While pulling over a driver who was operating 27 miles over the speed limit, a Tennessee State Trooper’s SUV was struck behind, leaving the trooper little open space to survive on the shoulder.
The report issued Monday by the THP showed bodycam footage of an officer in Davidson County who was speaking with a speeding driver on Interstate 24 when a pickup slams into the back of the patrol cruiser, pinning the officer between the vehicle and guardrail.
The statement said the trooper was not injured.
“When you see emergency lights, slow down and move over. It’s not just the law,” the statement online said.
“As you see here, it could be a matter of life and death for the men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to keep Tennessee roads safe.
Winter weather doesn’t give you permission to ignore the Move Over Law. Slow down. Pay attention. Give our first responders the space they need to do their job and make it home.”
