New proposed legislation aims to address movement of homeless population

New legislation being introduced in Nashville will try to stop the process of homeless people being moved from one community to another without any coordination. Now, a new bill would make that practice illegal. The bill aims to stop cities or counties from relocating homeless people unless the move is coordinated with the receiving city or county. The bills sponsors say that Metro Nashville has been relocating homeless people out of Davidson County, specifically to Murfreesboro, without notification to local officials or service providers. Metro city leaders have denied those claims. The bill would allow local governments that move homeless people without any coordination to be sued for $10,000 per violation.
