A 4-year-old is dead after a shooting in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. Police were called to Artesian Well Hollow Road around 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25. They found the child with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation said the child gained access to a loaded firearm inside his parents’ bedroom, where 11 other unsecured firearms were found, two loaded. Authorities said five children were in the home, and no measures had been taken to secure the weapons or restrict access to the room. Both parents, Karrlee Gallihar and Daniel Gallihar, are now facing 5 counts each of felony child abuse and neglect, and 4 counts each of recklessly leaving a loaded, unsecured firearm accessible to a child. The investigation remains ongoing.
