Elizabethton woman cited for animal cruelty
An Elizabethton woman has been cited for seven counts of animal cruelty and one count of aggravated animal cruelty. The Elizabethton Carter County Animal Shelter said one of the dogs died, six are being cared for at the shelter, one was released into the custody of a relative. The accused is identified as 23-year-old Savannah Cole. In November, a Carter County Deputy went to a home on Siam Road concerning dogs fighting. The deputy tried to use pepper spray to separate the dogs but a lock on a kennel kept him from doing so. The dog later died. The report said none of the dogs in the home had access to clean drinking water or adequate bedding. The case was been bound over to criminal court.
