School Board member Keith Ervin absent from Washington County School Board meeting
The Washington County Board of Education did not address the ongoing controversy surrounding board member Keith Ervin during its meeting Tuesday night after a letter was received, with students requesting that Ervin not attend any final school events. Ervin, facing public outcry after referring to a female underage student as “hot” in a video, was not at the meeting. Students from David Crockett High School submitted a letter requesting that Ervin not attend any remaining school events for the year and Monday, the Washington County Commission issued a vote of no confidence against him. The letter and Ervin were not discussed during Tuesday’s meeting with superintendent Jerry Boyd saying the matter was not included on the agenda and no one signed up to speak during the public comment period. Protestors lined the outside of the building with chants for Ervin to resign. According to Boyd, Ervin has received the students’ letter and will not be attending any upcoming school events.
