VA Governor Spanberger to sign paid family and medical leave program into law
On Monday, Va. Governor Abigail Spanberger will sign legislation creating a paid family and medical leave program in Virginia. The new law is designed to help the more than 3 million Virginians who currently lack access to paid family leave. Spanberger is expected to be joined at the signing ceremony by lawmakers, business leaders and families who could benefit from the program. The legislation allows workers to take up to 12 weeks of paid leave for serious health needs affecting themselves or a family member, including parental leave.
