Elizabethton officer honored for life saving action at local gym

An Elizabethton policeman is being honored for his quick actions that helped save a man’s life last month.

A city report said Corporal Ryan Manuel was off duty & arrived at a local gym for a workout when he was called out to help the victim-an unresponsive male collapsed on the floor due to cardiac arrest. Manuel requested the facility’s defibrillator, performed CPR and felt a pulse then med techs arrived.

The patient recovered while the officer was just awarded the agency’s Life Saving Award by police administrators.
