TVA blocking auto traffic at part of South Holston Dam

A portion of the South Holston Dam operation and recreation area is now restricted to auto traffic.

A report on the social media outlets of the Tennessee Valley Authority says the road that crosses the top of the structure has been temporarily closed.

“The closure addresses safety issues, vandalism, and after-hours trespassing as TVA pursues options for managing nighttime access,” the report said. “The road remains open to pedestrians, including those in wheelchairs.”

The agency will post updates on South Holston access on their official webpage, tva.com/environment/lake-levels/South-Holston, when further work changes are made.
