Sheriff: Driver of stolen van escapes after scuffle with officers

The driver of a stolen van out of Sullivan County had a physical altercation with officers who had pulled him over on Interstate 26 in Washington County, leading to his escape.

Sheriff Keith Sexton said the suspect’s name is Alfonso Paz Paz and he was last seen running down a hill near Possum Hollow Road, located less than a half mile from the Gray exits, on June 18 after 6 pm.

Any sightings can be reported to local police or to Washington County authorities.
