Sheriff warns Washington County, Tennessee- mistakes on the highway will not be tolerated
Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff Keith Sexton cited several recent crashes and related fatalities for his order to his officers on reinforcing rules of the road to drivers.
Sexton said in the social media message that drivers can expect a citation or arrest if they drive distracted, are speeding or reckless behind the wheel, or are driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol by road deputies.
The sheriff said no calls for complaints will be taken as officers are out to get a driver’s attention if they are making mistakes on the highway.
“…And before you haters start running your uneducated mouths, NO, there’s no line item in the Sheriff’s Office budget for ticket fees and court costs. We simply care for our community,” Sexton wrote in his post.
His officers were on the scene of a crash in Jonesborough Tuesday on Highway 11E that resulted in the death of the 17-year-old driver and injured his two passengers.
