Kingsport resident charged with attempted murder after Mapleoak stabbing

Treatment for a stabbing victim at Indian Path Hospital spurred an investigation into an incident in downtown Kingsport.

The preliminary report said Sullivan County deputies and city officers converged on property on Mapleoak Drive where they said Gage Valentine Wilson, 22, injured the victim who remains hospitalized.

The city statement said Wilson was taken into custody and charged with one count of attempted second degree murder.

Police information also said the victim received substantial stab wounds to the back.
