Former Southwest Virginia deputy, current town council member arrested by FBI on child porn charges

A former Southwest Virginia sheriff’s deputy and current Town Council member in Pulaski was arrested on child porn charges by the FBI.

Steven Wayne Erickson, 48, is charged with one count each of distribution and receiving child porn images.

The agency’s report detailed Erickson’s disturbing online activity, including receiving photos from one person who captured family members in a photo or on video without their knowledge while other materials were formed using AI technology.

The report said Erickson also encouraged others to abuse their children sexually, one as young as 9-year-old, then send pictures of the acts.
