App State music professor resigns following alleged sexual misconduct allegations
An associate music professor at Appalachian State University resigned last month after a school investigation revealed a pattern of alleged sexual misconduct.
App State Chancellor Heather Norris said plans were to discharge John Stanley Ross, who had been at the North Carolina school for 20 years.
A university report said the investigation began after information was reported to officials in February about Ross whose background check, according to the school, came back clean of any criminal charges when he was initially hired.
A potential victim was contacted this year based on an incident in Boone that allegedly occurred in 2015 along with another student at a facility in Michigan who made a disclosure about Ross in 2018.
