UVA running back suspended for Saturday after animal cruelty arrest

A University of Virginia football running back has been left off the roster for this weekend’s opening game at home against NC State after he was arrested by Albermarle County police.

A published report said Solomon Beebe, a transfer from UAB in his first year in Charlottesville, has been charged with three counts of animal cruelty based on several incidents that resulted in Beebe’s dog being seized by authorities.

UVA head coach Tony Elliott confirmed Beebe’s suspension from the ACC contest but said the running back remains a part of the football program. Elliott said he could not comment on Beebe’s situation due to ongoing investigations.
