Bristol TN police officer suspended after domestic assault charge in JC

A Bristol, Tennessee, police officer has been suspended after he was charged with domestic assault in Johnson City. An affidavit of complaint filed in Washington County General Sessions Court identified the officer as 34 year old, Mario S. Rivera, of Bristol, Tennessee. Rivera was booked into the Sullivan County Jail Friday afternoon. Online records show Rivera is also charged with domestic assault, aggravated domestic assault, and false imprisonment. The Bristol, Tennessee Police Department said in a statement that Rivera was suspended pending an investigation.
