Police: Juvenile shot on the street in Elizabethton

A juvenile was taken to an area hospital with what Chief Jason Shaw said appeared to be non-life threatening injuries following a Thursday afternoon shooting.

The preliminary investigation revealed the teenage victim was walking on the sidewalk along South Lynn Avenue and was met by a passing car that briefly stopped, fired shots, then drove off, leaving the teen with a gunshot wound to the hip.

School campuses in the surrounding Elizabethton area were placed on lockdown then the alert was lifted an hour later.
