Remains found near Jackson Island identified as Nancy Tucker, missing since Helene
Remains found near Jackson Island in Washington County have been confirmed to be those of Nancy Tucker, the last person in the county missing from Hurricane Helene. Tucker’s remains were found in the Jackson Island area as cleanup operations on the island had gotten underway. The remains had been taken to the William Jenkins Forensics Center for identification. The sheriff’s office confirmed Monday that the remains were Tucker’s. Tucker had been missing since Helene in September 2024. Her husband, Jim Tucker, was found dead in the Jackson Bridge area after the storm. Jackson Island is slightly more than three miles from where she was last believed to have been seen.
