One in custody after reported road rage in Erwin

Erwin’s police chief says one person is dead following a road rage incident that occurred Friday morning.

Chief Tony Buchanan said the suspect shot the victim near Ohio Avenue between Love and Gay streets, and a potential suspect had been taken into police custody.

The incident resulted in Unicoi County Schools being placed in a soft lockdown just before 10 am; the alert was lifted before 10:15 am.
