Shelter honored to house canine of owner killed in Johnson County crash

A sad update has been posted by an animal shelter in Mountain City following a fatal car crash on Friday night.

A statement posted by the Rescue DOG & End of Life Sanctuary said they have taken custody of a dog owned by Douglas McMillian, the driver killed in a collision with a school bus from Abingdon High School returning from a Johnson County game.

The message said McMillian, known to the group as Zachrie, was a volunteer with their dog rescue and plan to care for his dog named Petey, calling it an honor.
