Report: One dead after Greene County house fire

The TBI remains on the scene of a fatal house fire in Northern Greene County.

As first reported by WGRV, said the blaze occurred in the 2200 block of Lost Mountain Pike near Baileyton. Fire crews arrived just after 11:30 Wednesday night and after speaking with the victim’s stepmother, officials detemined that Melissa J. Christian was trapped in the home’s basement.

Firemen were able to access the basement after 1 a.m. where Christian was found and pronounced dead. Sheriff’s Department investigators were notified and the TBI took over the operation afterwards, the story said.
