Ribbon cutting scheduled in JC celebrating First Frontier Trail opening

Expect brief afternoon delays on West Walnut Street in Johnson City this Thursday. A section of the road between Green Pond Road and Sunny Slopes Drive will close to all traffic from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.. The brief closure is for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of the First Frontier Trail. This new path serves as a vital pedestrian and bicycle link. It represents a massive step toward a future twenty-five-mile interconnected system linking Johnson City to the Tweetsie Trail and Downtown Jonesborough. If you are heading that way on Thursday, local traffic will be detoured onto Matson Road and Sunny Slopes Drive. Emergency vehicles will still be allowed through.
