State board denies request for extra voting time at App State precinct after incident
A request from the Board of Elections in neighboring Watauga County to extend voting time at a precinct on the Appalachian State campus was denied by state officials.
Published reports said the facility had to shut down voting for 15 minutes as police ejected a man who became disruptive inside the Plemmons Student Union because of the crowded polls.
An on-site election worker said other voters were taken to another area while the incident was handled, and all of them stayed afterwards to cast their ballot.
