Anonymous social media post causes uproar in Bluff City
Don’t believe everything you read on social media. Concerned parents packed a Bluff City board of mayor and alderman work session to have their voices heard after an anonymous Facebook post suggested the Junior Patriots Little League would lose access to the town fields if parking issues weren’t addressed. More than 400 kids play in the league and Bluff City leaders say parking has been a problem for years and they’ve received complaints from residents wanting to have boat ramp access adjacent to the fields. The Facebook post suggested the town had told the league they would lose access to the field or pay the town $5,000 to have Bluff City officers manage the parking. According to both town officials and leaders with the Junior Patriots, the league was never forced to pay for officers and the threat of losing field access was never on the table. Currently, the solution is to encourage carpooling and show parents a parking map that was developed by both the town and the Junior Patriots.
