Anti cryptocurrency mining group meets in JC

The Johnson City Coalition Against Bitcoin Mining met at the Johnson City Public Library and is working with Johnson City to conduct research studies concerning bitcoin mines. The coalition wants to start around October, studying noise and environmental issues so that regulations can be prepared for bitcoin mining. The coalition also announced a collaboration with a group from the University of Tennessee, to work directly with the community concerning legal questions citizens may have regarding the mines and what actions they think are within legal action. Bitcoin mining has caused concern, not only in Johnson City, but across East Tennessee and some residents believe there is no long term benefit from those type of operations. The Johnson City Coalition Against Bitcoin Mining will hold another community meeting on September 16 at 7 p.m.
