Attorneys for Christa Pike ask judge for more time before upcoming court date
Following her survival of a failed lethal injection last month, attorneys for Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike are asking a judge for more time to prepare for an upcoming court date. A new legal filing highlights Pike’s serious medical condition, noting she spent days on life support after receiving two ostensibly fatal doses of execution drugs on September 30th. Pike has since been discharged back to prison, but her defense team says they need additional time ahead of a scheduled October 23rd hearing to establish the next legal steps in her case.
