Bill signing delivers $15 per hour minimum wage in Virginia by 2028
Governor Spanberger signed legislation into law Thursday that will raise the minimum wage for Virginia workers to $15 per hour.
The increase will come in increments, going up to $13.75 an hour next year then reaching the $15 goal in 2028. Republican lawmakers said the burden goes on to business owners in a struggling economy while counties have no direction on how the wage affects their budgets going forward.
A Christopher Newport University poll completed in January said 78 percent of Virginians support the raise of the minimum wage for workers.
