Bristol back to August? NASCAR making 2027 schedule decisions

Sports publication The Athletic is reporting that the Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway could be moving back to its original dates in August.

The proposed change came about when the Bristol event and a Tennessee home game with Georgia in September were held on the same day. There’s been no formal announcement from BMS parent company Speedway Motorsports as NASCAR finalizes its 2027 schedule.

Before moving that race to September in 2019 to make Bristol a spot in the now-discarded NASCAR playoffs, there was a night race in Thunder Valley every August beginning in 1976.
