Bristol Lifesaving Crew officials to meet with city leaders next week

The Bristol Life Saving Crew informed the Bristol, Virginia City Council Tuesday that they may soon have to close their doors. According to the city’s Vice Mayor Jake Holmes, Tuesday’s meeting was the first the council had heard of these issues and said the 90 day window was surprising. Holmes said the city hopes to keep the LSC, which has served the community for over 70 years, in service. Holmes went on to say that the city’s first priority is to the people of Bristol, and they’ll make sure emergency calls are answered regardless of what happens. City officials and Lifesaving Crew leadership plan on meeting next week along with the fire chief to discuss different options.
