Bristol Tennessee Mayor Mark Hutton resigns

Bristol, Tennessee Mayor Dr. Mark Hutton turned in a resignation letter on Tuesday and listed a higher calling for his exit.
Appointed by the board to fill a vacancy in 2022, Hutton says a decade of speaking to congregations across the country has allowed him to stay in Bristol but his new pastoral opportunity is permanent and departs the city’s governing body.
A period of 30 days is the time Council has to fill the vacancy with someone from Hutton’s district. A city statement said Vice Mayor Vince Turner will serve out the remainder of Hutton’s term as Mayor At-large until annual board selections for the Mayor’s decision is made in January.
