Carter County passes new budget

Carter County leaders passed a new budget Monday, eliminating funding for some programs. The county’s property tax rate will be a little more than $1.15 per $100 of assessed value. There is no increase in property tax, but the Elizabethton Senior Center and Boys and Girls Club, did not receive funding from the county from the new budget.
