Dolly Parton Day will be every year on 9/25 in Sevier County
Dolly Parton Day will now be celebrated annually in her Tennessee home of Sevier County. Sevier County, the City of Sevierville, the City of Pigeon Forge, the City of Gatlinburg, and the Town of Pittman Center announced in a joint proclamation Wednesday that declared September 25 as Dolly Parton Day. The day will now become a yearly celebration of Parton’s stunning career and impact on the local community. A signing ceremony will be held on Friday, September 25 at 9 a.m. on the steps of the Sevier County Courthouse. The significance of the date selected relates to her hit movie “9 To 5”. Legislation has also been proposed in the Tennessee General Assembly to designate the date as “9 to 5 Day” statewide. Another tribute to Dolly is the likely renaming of the airport in Nashville to “Dolly Parton” International.
