Drought conditions have residents and users of Boone Lake asking TVA for a fix
The drought conditions in recent months have caused low water levels at Boone Lake. Multiple residents and visitors of Boone Lake are concerned about the levels and are beginning to form a coalition and they are asking the Tennessee Valley Authority to fix the water levels. The residents are asking TVA to lower the level of Watagua Lake by a couple of feet, to increase the Boone Lake pool. That would still keep Watagua at operating level while signifigantly increasing levels at Boone. TVA responded to WJHL and said with the current drought conditions and little rainfall in the area, there isn’t enough room to pull from other lakes. The TVA also said that with more hazards on the water, they encourage boaters to drive more slowly on the lake and that they will continue releasing the minimum flow from dams until there is enough rainfall to release more.
