East Tennessee deputy recovering after suspect hits him with rock or brick

An East Tennessee policeman continues to recover at UT Knoxville while the suspect charged with attempted murder was issued a $2 million bond.

Viewers of the show “On Patrol: Live” that airs on Reelz saw Knox County Sheriff’s Office policemen respond to the call in Powell, TN as camera crews were embedded with those teams and with Deputy Dalton Swanger whose injury was shown during the broadcast and when fellow officers dragged him out of harm’s way after police said Christopher Hensley, 44, hit him with a rock or a brick, resulting in a serious head injury.

The Blue Line Tennessee organization has started a GoFundMe account online to raise money for Swanger to support him while off duty. As of Monday afternoon, 541 donations had been made to the account that totaled more than $34,000.
