East Tennessee murder suicide claims three including 3-month-old

Police in East Tennessee are investigating a murder-suicide that took place Friday, leaving three people including an infant dead.

A report from the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office said the victims were found outside an apartment located in the 120 block of Marine Way in Seymour. The agency’s statement said based on the evidence found, a 33-year-old man killed a 31-year-old female and a 3-month-old female infant then turned the weapon on himself.

“This was an extraordinarily difficult scene for our deputies, investigators, medical examiners, dispatchers, EMS, and all of our first responders,” said Sheriff Michael Hodges. “While they are trained to respond to the most challenging situations, incidents involving the loss of life, especially an innocent child, leave a lasting impact on everyone involved. We extend our condolences to the families, friends, neighbors, and all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.”
