Emory & Henry football great, legendary coach Tim Sarver passes away
Tim Sarver, the historic Harrisonburg High School head football coach that started his athletic career in the 1960s at Emory and Henry University, died on Sunday, according to published reports.
Sarver was captain for the Wasps in 1967 then went into teaching where he spent his 44 year career and 25 of those in coaching. Sarver’s teams won numerous district titles and was crowned AA state champs in 2001.
Sarver’s 278 victories are the seventh-most in Virginia high school football history. He was inducted into the Virginia High School Coaches Hall of Fame in 2011 and was made a member of the Emory & Henry Sports Hall of Fame in 1975.
