Father and son arrested, facing multiple felony drug charges

A father and son were arrested after a drug investigation in Unicoi County on April 24. The Unicoi County Sheriff’s Department says that information from a surveillance operation found that 25 year old Chance Curtis Ashley had traveled to North Carolina to buy methamphetamine to distribute throughout East Tennessee. On April 24, a car driven by Ashley was pulled over by police near the Jackson Love exit on Interstate 26. A K-9 search of the vehicle detected narcotics. The passenger, 46 year old Jamie Dean Ashley, had more than 75 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine hidden in his clothing. Jamie Dean Ashley is Chance Curtis Ashley’s father. A semi-automatic handgun belonging to Chance Curtis Ashley was also found in the vehicle. Both are facing multIple felony charges. The Mountain City Police Department, Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and the 1st Judicial Drug Task Force all assisted in the investigation.
