Gov. Lee turning to faith community for adoption partnership
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee is looking to the faith community to support the state’s foster children in helping them finding permanent housing.
The initiative called TN Fosters Hope is a partnership between the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services and private partners Tennessee Kids Belong and Show Hope. The areas of focus of TN Fosters Hope includes establishing a statewide network of churches to support the foster children and needs of their communities, recruit families to care for foster children with increased needs, and build pathways for full DCS custody children to find permanent adoption.
“When we join forces with the faith community and trusted partners like Tennessee Kids Belong and Show Hope, we can help Tennessee foster kids find permanent, loving homes,” said Gov. Lee. “I am calling on the faith community to join us as we work to build one of the most adoption-friendly states in the country.”
Gov. Lee is also proposing a TennCare coverage extension for adopted youth to allow them to retain TennCare until they turn 18.
