Heat races scrapped, qualifying still on for NASCAR’s Cookout Clash at Bowman Gray
In neighboring North Carolina, drivers including Ricky Stenhouse Jr and David Gilliland shoveled snow out of the grandstands at Bowman Gray Stadium so race fans would have a place to sit for Wednesday’s Cook Out Clash.
The event was bumped after NASCAR and weather officials gathered with state transportation leaders and agreed a few days of potential melting could help get the race on the road.
The four 25-lap heat races have been scrapped but practice and qualifying are still part of the plan starting at 1:30 Wednesday. Goodyear has rain tires on site if more precipitation comes to Winston Salem.
